Each month SHS will Spotlight a CTE student excelling in their field. 

Bailey Gaffney is a current senior within the Computer Science CTE Pathway here at Smithfield High School who has demonstrated leadership qualities and tremendous effort as she has made her way through the program. 

Bailey has earned numerous awards in her field including a silver medal at the State Science Olympiad in Cryptography, the Aspirations Award from the National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT), she came in second place for Rhode Island in the the Girls Go CyberStart National Competition and was a Mass Maritime Future Women Leaders in STEM award winner this year. 

In addition to her awards, Bailey has taken advantage of every opportunity to learn and to lead. This year, Bailey led the Girls Who Code Club for the middle school, she has attended a week long GenCyber Camp at Rhode Island College, and participated in a virtual GenCyber AI class this past summer.
