The students in Child Care II Honors have been successfully trained in the Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards (RIELDS) implemented by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary Education.  The Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards articulate shared expectations for what young children should know and be able to do. Further, they provide a common language for measuring progress toward achieving specific learning goals. The certificates the students are receiving are issued from The Rhode Island Department of Education.

This has been a wonderful opportunity for this group of students. Receiving this RIDE issued certificate is a major accomplishment. Employers in the Early Childhood Education field are quite impressed that this fine group of High School students have completed the training and are receiving this certificate. Past students who have completed this training have been hired over other job applicants. This year 27 students obtained the certification, great job to all!

On February 15th, six high school students from the Teacher Preparation Education Pathway volunteered at Old County Road School helping watching the children during Parents Night Out.
