Students in the Teaching Children & Adults class had the opportunity to communicate with an established teacher in Naples, Italy. She started her high school years at Smithfield High School before moving to Italy to complete her education. Mikala Bazinet now teaches kindergarten where her role is to teach English.

Using technology, our students showed her art projects for the playschool children and she explained that she was doing similar lessons in Italy. This was a wonderful exchange of professional ideas. We look forward to continuing this learning exchange in the near future!

November 12-16 was American Education week. Students in the Teacher Preparation Education Pathway worked on a special project putting together a sweet treat for teachers thanking them for all they do:

Educator Appreciation

Thanks for being such a marvelous & magnificent Teacher!

Love,

The Teacher Preparation Education Pathway at Smithfield High School

They also sent out a shout out to parents thanking them for being their child’s first teachers. As we all realize students would not be here and as successful as they are if it were not for their parents & guardians who love and support them! Thank you!!

Students in Textiles classes made pillowcases to be donated to a wonderful program Koncure Kancer for children who are undergoing treatment, and quilts to be donated to Project Linus to bring love and comfort to babies.
